Look MCP

Bring your own AI. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Grok — or any MCP-compatible assistant — to your Look wardrobe over HTTPS. Auth is per-user (OAuth 2.1 + PKCE, or a personal access token) — not a shared server secret.

Works with any MCP-compatible assistant — Cursor, VS Code, Claude Desktop, Muse and others: paste the MCP URL below as a remote server.

What you can do

Once connected, an assistant can do what you do in the app, acting as you: browse and edit your closet, build and arrange looks, find looks with the pieces you want to wear, log what you wore, manage capsules, work your Style Inbox, Profile and Ideas, add pieces by style code, and manage who your closet is shared with. Account deletion, connecting Pinterest and accepting invites stay in the app.

  • Account & closets (pass closetId to work in a closet shared with you): whoami, list_closets
  • Closet: list_items, list_items_needing_details, get_item, get_item_image, create_item, update_item, set_item_image, delete_item, rename_items, bulk_edit_items, delete_items, add_items_from_photos
  • Add by code (style codes from tags, receipts or order emails): add_items_by_code, scan_tag_photos
  • Photos (background removal and Enhanced; originals kept): remove_item_background, remove_items_background, enhance_items, set_item_display_variant
  • Looks (Wear with (All or Any), Today's look, favourites, never worn and temperature filters, tucked in or out layering): list_looks, get_look, get_look_image, create_look, update_look, rename_looks, set_look_items, set_look_layout, auto_layout_look, delete_look, bulk_edit_looks, find_looks_with_items, get_todays_look, set_look_favourite, log_look_worn
  • Wear photos: add_wear_photo, list_wear_photos, update_wear_photo, delete_wear_photo
  • Capsules: list_collections, get_collection, create_collection, update_collection, delete_collection, rename_collections, add_look_to_collection, remove_look_from_collection, sync_tags_to_collections
  • Style › Inbox: list_references, list_style_references, read_style_reference, add_style_reference, upload_style_references, update_style_reference, remove_style_reference, import_reference_links, list_pinterest_boards, list_pinterest_board_pins, import_pinterest_board, reprocess_style_references, mark_references_read
  • Style › Profile: get_style_profile, update_style_profile, list_style_notes, add_style_note, list_feedback, reply_to_feedback
  • Style › Ideas & Shop: analyze_wardrobe_for_looks, suggest_look, create_idea, create_shopping_gap, list_look_suggestions, accept_look_suggestion, dismiss_look_suggestion, list_wishlist, add_wishlist_item, update_wishlist_item
  • Sharing (owners manage access; people you share with suggest looks and pieces): list_sharing, suggest_share_partners, invite_to_closet, resend_closet_invite, cancel_closet_invite, update_closet_member, remove_closet_member, leave_closet, propose_look, propose_items, list_sent_proposals
  • Stylist clients: list_clients, create_client_closet, send_client_claim_invite, delete_client_closet
  • MCP prompt: analyse_my_style— in clients that support MCP prompts, run "Analyse my Style" to walk references → vision → notes → look suggestions (same workflow as Style › Profile → Continue in your AI).

Claude

  1. Open Claude.ai → Settings → Connectors.
  2. Add a custom connector named Look and paste https://lookofthe.day/api/mcp.
  3. Prefer OAuth when offered (Look exposes protected-resource + authorization-server metadata and dynamic client registration). Sign in with Google on the consent screen.
  4. Or use a PAT as Authorization: Bearer lb_… from Settings → MCP tokens.

ChatGPT

  1. Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced: enable Developer mode (custom MCP connectors).
  2. Create a connector named Look with MCP server URL https://lookofthe.day/api/mcp.
  3. Complete OAuth when prompted (Look /api/oauth/register supports dynamic client registration). Approve access on https://lookofthe.day.

Grok

  1. Add a custom MCP connector at grok.com/connectors (Custom).
  2. Name: Look · MCP URL: https://lookofthe.day/api/mcp
  3. Prefer OAuth when offered. Otherwise create a PAT at /settings/mcp and use it with the connector.

Any other MCP client

Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Zed and other MCP clients: add a remote (Streamable HTTP) server named look with https://lookofthe.day/api/mcp. Sign in with Google when the client offers OAuth, or send a PAT as Authorization: Bearer lb_….

Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop's claude_desktop_config.json only supports stdio servers — a bare url / headers remote entry is rejected as invalid. Bridge Look with mcp-remote:

  1. Prefer OAuth:
    npx -y mcp-remote https://lookofthe.day/api/mcp
  2. Or pass a PAT via --header / a header file, e.g. Authorization: Bearer lb_… (create a token at /settings/mcp).
  3. Point the Desktop config command / args at that npx invocation (stdio), not at a remote URL block:
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "look": {
          "command": "npx",
          "args": [
            "-y",
            "mcp-remote",
            "https://lookofthe.day/api/mcp"
          ]
        }
      }
    }
    An existing "lookbook" entry keeps working — the key is only a local label.

Muse (Meta)

  1. Once listed: open Muse → Settings → Connectors and enable Look.
  2. Until listed: ask Muse for a Custom Connector pointed at https://lookofthe.day/api/mcp, using OAuth or a PAT from /settings/mcp.
  3. Builders submitting a directory connector can start at muse.ai/platform. Meta reviews submissions — Look is not claiming to be in the Muse directory yet.

For Muse & Grok builders

Builders: submit a Muse directory connector at muse.ai/platform, or add Look as a custom connector at grok.com/connectors. See the Grok / Muse sections above for end-user steps. Packaging notes for marketplace PRs live in the repo under docs/distribution/.

Personal access tokens

Signed-in users can create, list, and revoke tokens at /settings/mcp. Raw tokens are shown once and stored hashed (SHA-256). Prefix lb_. Prefer OAuth when the client supports it; use a PAT for clients that only accept a bearer header.

Security

Connections use your OAuth session or PAT and act as you — only share access with assistants you trust.

Operators (legacy)

Env LOOKBOOK_MCP_TOKEN still works for single-operator setups (scoped via LOOKBOOK_USER_EMAIL / LOOKBOOK_USER_ID). Prefer per-user PATs or OAuth for new installs.
